videoXtens HP – non-contact extension measurement with an unprecedented level of precision

videoXtens HP sets new standards in accuracy and reproducibility. When international standards require high precision, videoXtens HP is the perfect solution. Operator influence is virtually eliminated, ensuring consistent test results.

videoXtens HP is a non-contact, high-resolution extensometer developed for tests that require maximum precision. Since the system employs non-contact measurement, there is no influence on the material characteristic values.

It is primarily used for testing plastics to ISO 527-1 or ASTM D 638, including accurate measurement of tensile modulus values. This system is also ideal for testing composites, for example in tensile tests on filament strands and laminates made of fiber composites or in-plane shear tests (±45° method). Tests up to break without damage to the extensometer are possible, even with brittle-fracturing specimens.

videoXtens HP also meets accuracy requirements for tensile tests on metals to ISO 68921. The option for determining strain distribution and strain at break as per Annex H of ISO 6892-1 is particularly convenient. Biaxial measurement is also possible. i.e., simultaneous measurement of extension and change of width.

videoXtens HP advantages

  • High resolution and measurement accuracy: accuracy class 0.5 to EN ISO 9513, accuracy class B1 to ASTM E83 from a gage mark distance of 15 mm, meets accuracy requirements to ISO 527-1 including accurate measurement of tensile modulus values
  • Automatic gage mark recognition and recording of initial gage length L0
  • Precise synchronization of all measurement channels
  • Minimization of environmental influences (e.g., air currents, variations in light) by the flexible tunnel
  • LEDs integrated in the tunnel provide optimum uniform specimen illumination
  • Specimens with structured surfaces can be recorded through pattern recognition without additional markings
  • Innovative Array technology
  • The entire test sequence can be followed on screen
  • Video capture: recording of the test, synchronized with the measurement curve for enabling the test to be viewed retrospectively
  • The system is wear free and thus requires little maintenance
